ARLINGTON, VA –  The U.S. Dairy Export Council (USDEC) praised the passage of a bipartisan Senate resolution to commemorate 2026 as the International Year of the Woman Farmer.

Statement from Krysta Harden, President and CEO of USDEC:

“Women have been leaders, innovators and problem-solvers in feeding, fueling and clothing the world since time immemorial. Whether on a dairy in Wisconsin or a smallholder farm in Africa, women producers are the understated pillar of the agricultural industry. Thank you to Senators Fischer and Klobuchar and Representatives Hinson and Pingree for leading this bipartisan Congressional effort to recognize the vital contributions of women in agriculture and acknowledge 2026 as the International Year of the Woman Farmer. This year is a call to invest in their voices, expand their access to opportunity, and ensure they have the tools and recognition they deserve—not just for one year, but for generations to come.”
