FDA Chile Plant List Renewal – Action Required

All companies that intend to ship dairy products to Chile must renew their plant registration with the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) by September 1, 2014. Even if companies are presently on the List of U.S. Dairy Product Manufacturers/Processors with Interest in Exporting to Chile, they must still confirm their intention to remain on this list by September 1 or they will be removed. Chilean authorities prevent the import of dairy products from firms not on this FDA establishment list. Companies that want to register to be included on the Chile list for the first time must submit the same information, as outlined in Volume 2 of the Export Guide.

Manufacturers that wish to remain on the approved list for Chile must provide the following details on company letterhead to Esther Lazar of FDA at esther.lazar@fda.hhs.gov by September 1, 2014:

  1. 1. Business name and address;
  2. 2. Name, telephone number, and e-mail (if available) of contact person;
  3. 3. List of products presently shipped to Chile and those intended to be shipped in the next 3 years;
  4. 4. Name and address of the manufacturing plant for each product;
  5. 5. Name of any Federal, State, or local governmental agencies that inspect the plant, along with the government assigned plant identifier (e.g., plant number) and date of last inspection (Note: Please do NOT use the FDA Food Facility Registration number for this purpose.) and;
  6. 6. Copy of last inspection notice and, if other than an FDA inspection, copy of last inspection report.

(Note: For contacts responsible for maintaining multiple manufactures, please submit all changes to the manufactures status under your purview.)

Note: Do not send hard copies by U.S. mail. If any companies choose to send the information to FDA in hard copy, the use of a courier service is strongly recommended because FDA has experienced significant delays in the delivery of mail. The physical address is 5100 Paint Branch Parkway, HFS-306, College Park, MD 20740.
