USDEC will host a one hour webinar reinforcing U.S. Dairy's global leadership in sustainability as well as how end-users can capitalize on growing consumer demand for nutritious, sustainably produced foods with U.S. dairy proteins. This will include insight into results from a comparative landscape survey on dairy vs. plant protein processing that sheds new light on dairy's environmental edge as well as how to maximize marketing and trend alignment with U.S. whey and milk protein's nutrition.

The webinar will be broadcast in Japanese for food and beverage manufacturers' R&D, marketing and purchasing staff, featuring the following presentations:

  • Krysta Harden, USDEC COO, presenting on U.S. dairy farmers' and processors' sustainability journey, including the industry's long-standing commitment to healthy people, a healthy planet and healthy communities. Topics will include the U.S. dairy industry's ambitious future goals and efforts to be carbon neutral by 2050. Harden will also address the U.S. dairy industry's dedication to being an environmental solution for current and future generations.

  • Rohit Kapoor, VP of Product Research, National Dairy Council, sharing research results from a first-of-its-kind landscape survey examining 17 dairy and non-dairy protein ingredients in terms of the degree of processing and impact on environmental resources. This research was first unveiled as part of the technical program of the virtual Institute of Food Technologists (IFT) Annual Meeting and Food Expo in July 2020, and this webinar will be the first time for new findings to be presented outside the United States.
  • Julian Mellentin, Founder, New Nutrition Business, providing actionable insights into what is driving the protein trend's lasting endurance, how it continues to evolve over time and strategies to seize future-focused growth opportunities. He will also discuss the intersection of the protein trend - especially dairy proteins - with other leading food and beverage industry trends in 2020 such as snackification, sustainability and naturally functional.
